Happy (belated) Birthday Mary Blair!!

I had hoped to have this image uploaded last week in honor of Mary's 100th Birthday on Oct 21st, but time was not my friend this past week.

For those of you that don't know who Mary Blair was, she was a brilliant artist responsible for producing art for The Walt Disney Company, drawing concept art for such films as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Song of the South and Cinderella. Mary's greatest legacy was her involvement in the creation of character and background designs for 'It's a Small World'. Her artwork is appreciated every day throughout the world because of 'It's a Small World' and is viewed by millions of people every year. I don't know one Disney artist who doesn't appreciate or hasn't been influenced by Mary Blair. Her work has always been a great influence on me and I will spend forever appreciating her whimsy and sophisticated simplicity. Thank you Mary, I will always be in your debt.

It's easy to praise generously when it's deserved. I think you've perfectly captured her approach and still let your style shine through.
