Diana Vreeland
The other night we went to see "Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel" all about the famous editor of both Harper's Bazaar (1937-1962) and Vogue (1962-1971) not to mention becoming the consultant to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1971.
Overly rouged with a fabulous outlook on life, she was extremely quotable..for example: "There's only one really good life, and that's the life that you know you want, and you make it yourself!" or "The only real elegance is in the mind; if you've got that, the rest really comes from it".
I first became aware of who she was as a teenager because in the 1957 movie musical "Funny Face", the character of Maggie Prescott (as portrayed by the divine Kay Thompson) was based on Vreeland. Go and see it if you have any interest in Fashion, style or just plain fun...Trust me it has Pizazz!!

Joyeux Anniversaire Julia Child!
Today marks the 100th Birthday of Julia Child. Her story is remarkable and it is fascinating to think that she hadn't started cooking until her early thirties and didn't make her TV debut until she was in her fifties. She is an inspiration to me for many reasons, but mainly because her determination, drive and positivity are a constant reminder that everyone has a second chapter in their lives and there is always more to come. Simply, Julia changed the world and those of us with a love of food and life are very grateful.
