Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
- Oscar Wilde
I am not sure I agree with Oscar completely on this one but it was fairly appropriate for this post. I used to struggle with the fact that I feel I have no definitive "style" but now I am OK with not feeling tied down to one particular way to work. I suppose I will spend the rest of my creative life figuring out which way to draw what is in my head.

I used to think the same thing when I was younger but as it turned out it was my ability to change my style that has allowed me to make my living as a artist for 30+ years. You might be surprised how enviable a talent you have to be able to jump from style to style, medium to medium, not to mention the inspiration you are to your students. PS. I love the drawing!
Love the drawing- there's never enough Oscar art in my opinion- and the texture is really great; was the brush pen almost dried out?
As far as the style thing, I think its like being an actor- there are those who specialize in one particular type of role, and there are those who have a wide range, and I think you're one of the latter. Regardless of the medium or approach, there's always something about your work thats recognizably you. :D
Peter...I hate you...
This is ridiculous, I thought it was an etching or monoprint. Turns out it's just brush pen. You never seize to impress.
Drawing by itself is amazing, as always.
I don't know about anyone else but I think you definitely have a style. I'm pretty confident that I could spot a work by Peter Emmerich amongst the work of other artists any day.
Hey Peter,
Ohhh my lord this one's a beaut. Me too I feel the same way.

Hi Peter,
Would you believe an incredibly lovely and caring friend sent me the link to your blog and particularly the post about my dad. Life is a bit out of control at the moment...I love the caricature you did of him...do you know where the works are that you posted on your site? I am collecting my own list to make sure things go as they should...Thanks so much for your kind words about him. I came in to the Society of Illustrators show opening last Friday and met so many lovely people. I look forward to knowing you better, and I believe we can help eachother know my wonderful dad better.
I blog at www.kathypride.com; the blog is on the homepage.
I so enjoyed meeting you at FIT and will see you soon at the service.
Kathy, Dick's daughter.
